Dear Unit Leader,

Welcome to Mataguay Scout Ranch, your 2014 summer camp destination. The staff is looking forward to seeing you at camp as we prepare for an exciting summer.

This year’s camp will continue to offer some dynamic programs and activities for Scouts of all ages and ranks. Offerings this year include:

  • Mataguay Expedition Force – a Trek-type adventure for older Scouts
  • Aviation – Thanks to our continued partnership with Sky Sailing in Warner Springs we will once again be offering the Aviation Merit Badge complete with a glider flight.
  • Pathfinders – this “Trail to First Class” program is designed to help younger Scouts progress toward earning their Tenderfoot, 2nd Class, and 1st Class requirements.  Includes an optional Swimming Merit Badge just for Pathfinders.
  • ATV – One of 23 councils in the nation offering ATV rider instruction with extended trail rides to Scouts 14 and older.
  • High and Low COPE Courses - Scouts will enjoy testing their skills and willpower on a circuit of challenging high rope elements and low courses
  • Over 35 merit badges will be offered including the Mataguay Messenger and Final Frontiersman experiences and for the fourth year Inventors including the Robotics Merit Badge.
  • Horses – back by popular demand!  Horsemanship Merit Badge, trail rides, and horse handling demonstrations.
  • Mountain Bike – Mataguay has opened up new trails for all levels of experience.  Bring your own bike or use one of ours.
  • 6th Annual Dragon Boat Competition – Build and race your Troop’s own boat!

Refund and Cancellation Policy

Every troop makes predictions about how many Scouts will be attending summer camp. This of course includes boys who were newly promoted from Webelos, transfers, and the existing troop members. While troops can make estimates based on past history, surprises happen. To help your troop smooth out those bumps Mataguay Scout Ranch will allow a one-time 10% or 2 Scout (whichever is greater) deletion in the number of spots that you reserve without penalty. This change must be made no later than March 31, 2014.

The camp team will do their best to accommodate additional Scouts, but will have a strict adherence to the camp’s limitations to ensure the quality camping experience.
