Dear Unit Leader,

Welcome to an exciting and fun filled Camp Fiesta Island as your 2014 summer camp destination. We are planning a dynamic summer camp program and are looking forward to providing a great camp experience for you and your Scouts.

This year’s camp features exciting programs and activities for Scouts of all ages and ranks. Offerings this year include:

  • Nautical Survival - a survival program that combines the best of Scouting’s outdoor skills in a fun and exciting way!
  • Mariners Program – this “Trail to First Class” is a half-day program that allows each boy to work on the skills he needs for rank advancement from Tenderfoot to First Class.
  • Snorkeling - offers opportunities for Scouts to explore Mission Bay’s marine life
  • Burley Boatswain program, Flying Hull sailing, and Night Kayak adventures on the bay offer new challenges for senior Scouts.
  • Just for leaders the Xtreme Adult Leader Program piloted in 2012 will return with a special patch for successfully completing the challenge.
  • Open Program Day offers you and your Scoutspan>
  • Special Programs include Scuba, Wakeboarding and Personal Water Craft
  • More than 25 Merit Badges offered including Small Boat Sailing, Lifesaving, and Oceanography.

Every troop makes predictions about how many Scouts will be attending summer camp. This of course includes boys who were newly promoted from Webelos, transfers, and the existing troop members. While troops can make estimates based on past history, surprises happen. To help your troop smooth out those bumps Mataguay Scout Ranch will allow a one-time 10% or 2 Scout (whichever is greater) deletion in the number of spots that you reserve without penalty. This change must be made no later than March 31, 2014.

The camp team will do their best to accommodate additional Scouts, but will have a strict adherence to the camp’s limitations to ensure the quality camping experience.
