Admission Fee is $10.00 for Boy Scouts Radio Merit Badge, $5 for Cub/Boy Scout Activities (Adults Free)
The Jamboree-on-the-Air (JOTA), is an annual Scouting event that uses amateur radio to link Scouts around the world, across the nation and in your own community. Communication is done via Ham Radios!
Boy Scout Activities: Radio Merit Badge The six hour course is being held from 9 am-3 pm (mandatory to attend whole time). It will cover all requirements, lunch, JOTA patch and ham radio talk time. Must be present the entire time to earn all of the requirements. Cost is $10.
Cub Scout Activities: Introduction to Amateur Radio This is a 1 hour course offered hourly from 1 pm - 5 pm. This will satisify the requirements for the Cub Scout Communicating Belt Loop. The $5 enrollment fee includes the JOTA patch and ham radio talk time. Cub scouts must have an adult present.
Open radio talk time until 8 pm for WORLDWIDE Radio Communications.
The San Diego-Imperial Council JOTA 2014 is thankful for the support from the Palomar Amateur Radio Club and the Poway Amateur Radio Society.
This event is a BSA event. All rules regarding adult leadership/ supervision apply. While Boy Scout aged participants do not need one-to-one leader coverage, they must be accompanied by adult leaders. Cub Scouts must be accompanied by an adult. No scout will be allowed to be dropped off at the event; they must have appropriate adult leadership/ supervision.
