High Adventure Leader Trek Training (HALTT)

This 37-hour course prepares unit leaders for backpacking and wilderness camping trips. Topics include trek planning, equipment, food, health and safety, orienteering, and places to go. Leaders completing sessions I, II, and III receive a patch and numbered card.

Units planning to hike, backpack or snow camp and earn High Adventure Awards must have a trained adult with a current card accompanying the trip.

HALTT Session 1 weeknight session covers:

     Exposure/Protection from weather

     Studies of Hyperthermia and Hypothermia

     Discussions of HALTT, Water Trek, and Specialist Training

Particulars

Fee: $10.00 (effective February, 2017) The one time, $10 fee, covers Sessions I, II, and III.
Prerequisites: - Be at least 18 years of age
- Be registered with BSA (as an adult)
- Current BSA Medical Form

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations and requests for refunds must be made in writing two weeks prior to your session. Requests for refunds less than two weeks will be at the discretion of the High Adventure Staff Partner.

Please submit all requests for cancellations and refunds to HALTT at sdiccamp@scouting.org or mail in your request to HALTT SDIC-BSA, 1207 Upas Street, San Diego, CA. 92103

Please allow 2-3 weeks after session for processing of your refund if applicable.
